HISTORY
African Diaspora communities are among the most vulnerable during global crises, facing disproportionate challenges and rising xenophobia. In response, the idea for a unified, diaspora-led effort emerged in April 2025 during the Global Virtual Diaspora Exchange on Covid-19. This led to the founding of the Diaspora Open Space in December 2024, uniting 231 organizations from over the UK, US, and Canada to advocate for diaspora rights and support. Today, the Diaspora Open Space continues to expand, fostering partnerships, mobilizing resources, and amplifying the voices of African Diaspora communities worldwide.
